Across the country communities are creating "Sanctuary School Teams" - a model that came out of Chicago for coordinating protective presence and support among school families, neighbors, educators, and school admin. In Indiana, the term "sanctuary" often is associated with Sanctuary Cities and Indiana officially has banned sanctuary city policies. To avoid confusion here in Indy, versus calling these "Sanctuary School Teams" we are calling them "School Safety Teams" or "SST".
